EKU/Siemens Project Showcase - November 23rd

The Siemens project, begun in 2008 to promote long-term sustainability, reduce the University's impact on the environment and dramatically reduce EKU's utility costs, is funded entirely through guaranteed energy savings and does not require additional taxpayer dollars. The agreement between EKU and Siemens guarantees that savings ($2.9 million annually, or $7,900 per day) over a 13-year term meet or exceed annual payments to cover all project costs. It is expected that the project will reduce EKU's $6.4 million annual utility budget by more than 40 percent. This event, scheduled to take place in Keen Johnson's Walnut Hall, will include a visual presentation to showcase the many improvements made on campus thanks to the Siemens project.
