Wes Gilliam is a 16-year veteran of the fire service. He is currently a firefighter with the Lexington Fire Department assigned to Rescue Co. #1. As a firefighter assigned to Ladder Co. #6, Gilliam received the Firefighter of the Year in 2002 for his contributions to the division. Gilliam holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Eastern Kentucky University in Fire Protection Administration. He has been a State Fire Rescue Training Instructor since 1993 and has helped develop programs currently taught throughout the state.
